How can I be right with God?

The Bible says God created you, loves you, and desires to have a relationship with you.

Thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
Revelation 4:11b

The Bible says that you are a sinner — a rebel against God.

There is none righteous, no not one.
Romans 3:10
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23

The Bible says that your sin separates you from God.

But your iniquities (sins) have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you.
Isaiah 59:2

Worse yet, the Bible says that because of your sin you are guilty before a holy God and deserve punishment in hell.

For the wages of sin is death.
Romans 6:23a
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:15

The Bible says that God loves you and does not want you to be punished. Because of His love, He sent Jesus Christ to be your substitute. Christ died for your sins, bearing the penalty that you deserve. He suffered for your sins so you won’t have to.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16
...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23b
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust that he might bring us to God.
Ephesians 3:18a

The Bible says that you can be forgiven. Forgiveness and eternal life in heaven are God’s free gift. You cannot earn it by doing good things or being “religious.” No church can give it to you. You must receive it freely. That is what the Bible calls “grace” — God’s unearned kindness.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Salvation from sin can be yours. Christ offers it, but you must receive it:

• Admit your guilt and repent of your sins.

Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.

Acts: 3:19

• Trust Jesus Christ as your personal Savior

But as many as received him, to them gave be power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
John 1:12
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 3:36
